Simon Says

ORIGINAL Q&A between Simon & WOMAG (12/10/07)

1.How long has Flock of Assholes been together?
Since we've all been old enough to marry, publicly cheat on and re-marry supermodels.

2. Why 80's music?
Well, first off…have you seen our name? Secondly, 80's music is the only music…the 60's and 70's had absolutely nothing to offer us.

3. How long have you been playing at the Lucky Dog?
It will be 2 years in April

4. Do you consider the Lucky Dog your home in a sense?
As much of a home as a weekly gig can offer us. We do play other venues such as Wembly and Madison Square Garden. We've been asked to do Live Aid this year…for the children, (and to try to get our keyboardist Kaiser Goo Goo laid).

5. What are your feelings on taking the long held Thursday set from Mullethead? – Was it a mutual decision or a battle? (October 4th 2007)
There was a long running argument between Mullethead's vocalist Dee Sniper and the Flock's Simon LeBoner. It started back in '82 they bumped into each other at a boutique in London and Dee made a loud, rude comment about Simon's (obviously hung-over) matted hair, so they threw rolled up Wimpy burger wrappers at each other. Then, an ill-fated love triangle involving Meredith Baxter-Birney left Simon out in the cold.

They were both up for a part in "Cop Rock" and Simon lost it because Dee hooked the producer up with the Solid Gold Dancers. This melee continued to fester and carried on to the stage for the next several years. Dee got his comments in every night. Simon, quietly bottled his rage behind the scenes. One day, the announcement came that Dee wanted to pursue his non-musical (landscaping) interests and no one has seen him since. Simon's backyard has never looked greener.

6. Do you think the takeover has improved or grown the Thursday scene?
Yes, definitely. Who wanted to see a bunch of re-habbing blokes on stage every Thursday when they can be watching some REAL talent! At the end of their tenure they were barely able to walk up on the stage, they were so obliterated on whatever they could get their bloated hands on. We pick a set list from about 60 of our best songs, enjoy a tall glass of wheat grass juice before the show and offer EXCITEMENT!!!

8. What's the band's trademark song?
They are all so good it's hard to pick just one. I would say Simple Minds "Don't you forget about me", if I had to choose one that gets the crowd all lathered up more than EVERY song we do.

9. Do you have avid Thursday night fans? Do they dress up?
Yes, in fact one of our favorite people that show up every week is Don Jahnson…or is it Dan Johnson, y'know from that new Miami Vice show.

10. Anything to add?
The Lucky Dog is giving away FREE PASSES for The Flock to the first 20 people in the door every week. Doors open at 8:00pm so come on down and get flocked up.
